BEYOND ABUSE ADVOCATE
Part Time/20 hours weekly

Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeking an experienced professional to work as a part time Beyond Abuse Advocate. The goal of the Beyond Abuse program is to help participants learn to eliminate violent, abusive and controlling behaviors from their relationships; thus contributing to ending the cycle of domestic violence. This position will assist clients with advocacy and case management needs, perform intakes and placements into applicable groups and co-facilitate group sessions in accordance with approved agency program model and curriculum. This position will also maintain accurate client records, document and report client progress and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, communication, human resources or relevant field; minimum two years professional experience in advocacy, case management, human resources or related field; or a combination of education and experience. Prior experience with curriculum development and/or group facilitation preferred. Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience preferred. Bilingual preferred.

COMMUNITY PROSECUTION ADVOCATE
Full Time

Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeking an experienced professional to work as a Community Prosecution Advocate. This position will provide assistance to domestic violence victims from diverse backgrounds to help them explore their options, develop a safety plan and access needed community resources. This position will provide crisis intervention, advocacy and ongoing support and will work with a team of law enforcement, prosecutors, probation agents and advocates to develop and implement protocols for proactively responding to family violence at a neighborhood level. The Community Prosecution Advocate will work from various police districts, with a flexible schedule that may require some nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, communication, human resources or relevant field. Three to five years professional experience in advocacy, case management, human resources, or related field. Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience preferred. Bilingual preferred.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE ADVOCATE
Full Time

Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeking an experienced professional to work as a full-time Community Resource Advocate. This position will provide assistance to victims of domestic

violence from diverse backgrounds and will assess client’s individual situations and refer to internal resources as well as community resources. The Community Resource Advocate will assist in developing safety plans and accompany clients to legal proceedings as necessary, coordinate group facilitation sessions in accordance with approved agency program model and curriculum, and perform community education as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, communication, human resources or relevant field; minimum two years professional experience in advocacy, case management, human resources or related field; or a combination of education and experience. Prior experience with curriculum development and/or group facilitation preferred. Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience preferred. Bilingual Spanish preferred.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
Full Time

The Director of Development, under the direction of the Executive Director, will work closely with the board to maximize the agency financial resource development programs and to ensure that they are consistent with the future direction of the agency. This position will be responsible for ensuring the raising of adequate funds to operate the agency, the cultivating of major donor prospects and management of special events. This will include the development and execution of strategies concerning donor prospecting, cultivation and management, as well as ensuring excellence in positive relationship amongst donors, sponsors, and volunteers. This position will be responsible for ensuring high quality and consistent public awareness of the agency.

This position will also create strategies and implement best practices to build on the agency’s current development programs. Responsibilities include the design, implementation and management of annual fund campaign activities that include but are not limited to identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major and planned gifts

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a job related major and five to seven years of related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience. Requires at least three years annual and major gift fund raising experience. Must have demonstrated success in meeting annual fundraising goals and significant track-record of developing and implementing strategies for growth, closing gifts and managing relationships. Familiarity with range of development strategies to secure individual, foundation and corporate annual gifts required. Experience with fundraising/donor database Raiser’s Edge is required.

SHELTER ADVOCATE
Part Time (25 hours/week)

This position is to provide support, advocacy and resource information to battered women and their children who call the crisis hotline, or who are residents of the shelter. Duties include providing support on a 24-hour crisis hotline, monitor facility upkeep, process new intakes, interact with residents in a temporary shelter, and record statistical data. Must provide support, advocacy, and resource information to crisis hotline callers and residential clients, as well as maintain records, data entry, and documentation of client interactions.

Must be available to work first and second shift, flexible overnights and weekend shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a high school diploma. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, as well as strong computer, verbal, written, listening skills and basic math. Knowledge of domestic violence issues required. Bi-lingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

SHELTER PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Full Time

Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeking an experienced professional to work as a Shelter Program Coordinator. This position will support all residents that enter our 24 hour shelter by assisting them with advocacy and case management needs, as well as developing safety plans and goals to meet the individual needs of the residents. The Shelter Program Coordinator will also collaborate with SFPC management to ensure the domestic violence hotline is properly staffed 24 hours a day with volunteers and shelter staff, and is responsible for the recruiting, training, scheduling and supervision of volunteers at the shelter. Additionally, this position will serve as back-up in the event there is not proper coverage of the domestic violence hotline. This includes first, second and third shift coverage.

While the schedule is flexible, applicants must be available:

First shift: Tuesday and Wednesday*
Second shift: Sunday, Monday and Thursday*

*Shifts may be interchangeable

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a job related major and three to five years of related experience; or two years of college with job related coursework and six to eight years of professional experience in advocacy, case management, or related field; or a combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience required. Bilingual preferred.

SYSTEMS BASED ADVOCATE
Full Time

Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeking an experienced professional to work as a full-time Systems Based Advocate. This position will work within the Milwaukee County Restraining Order Clinic and District Attorney’s office to provide services, support and assistance to domestic violence victims from diverse backgrounds. The Systems Based Advocate will work to help clients understand and navigate the civil and criminal court systems processes, explore their options and rights when utilizing these systems, develop safety plans and access needed community resources. This includes, but is not limited to, providing legal advocacy to victims of domestic abuse, harassment, individuals at risk and child abuse seeking temporary restraining orders and injunctions, facilitating interaction between victims and the Assistant District Attorneys and accompanying clients to legal proceedings as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, communication, human resources or relevant field; minimum two years professional experience

in advocacy, case management, human resources or related field; or a combination of education and experience. Prior experience with curriculum development and/or group facilitation preferred. Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience preferred. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
