Sojourner
Truth House
Sojourner Truth House has been in existence since 1978. The 42-bed
emergency shelter offers a safe respite for battered women, sexual
assault victims and their children. Each victim is provided with
basic necessities such as food, transportation, and clothing, warmth,
security, empathy and support, counseling and support groups, advocacy
services and children’s programming. The 24-Hour Domestic Violence
Hotline for Milwaukee County also operates out of the shelter. A
caring and compassionate staff offers confidential, individual counseling
and safety planning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
